Walking Dead Star Wants His Character To Flip
Walking Dead star Andrew Lincoln, who plays Rick Grimes in the hit zombie TV show has told Zap2it that he would like to see his character “deteriorate” when the comic-based drama returns for its second season.
Lincoln said that he wants his character, who let’s face it, is nothing more than the ignorant third wheel despite being the good guy, to flip under the intense pressure of the zombie outbreak…
“He has good intentions, but I think that I want [the show] to adhere closely to the narrative in the book. It’s that the pressure, the responsibility, the domestic situations [and] the parenting has [taken] its toll on him. He can’t keep sustaining this.”
He then said that he has found exploring both sides to Rick to have been very satisfying…
“It’s a big responsibility… but I love playing this character. I love it. He’s so complicated and so driven and so different to me.”
Finally he praised the show’s producers for their willingness to shock by killing off central characters…
“I think it’s just one of the great things we’re afforded in this series. A bad decision can cost a life in this [show] and the stakes are so high, so hopefully that makes for real raw, compelling drama.”
The Walking Dead returns at the end of the year.
