Howie Mandel Says Fight Against OCD Has Been Torturous
Comedian Howie Mandel has revealed that he has had to struggle for his entire life with a phobia of germs.
During an interview with Piers Morgan on his CNN talkshow; Piers Morgan Tonight, Mandel revealed that his lifelong battle against his obsessive-compulsive disorder has, at times been torturous.
He also added that he is aware that people make fun of his disorder…
“It’s very serious. It’s something I’ve been afflicted with all my life.
It’s really who I am. I wish I wasn’t, but it’s who I am. I’m thrilled that I have coping skills… I know that people make jokes about it, but you have no idea that it’s really torture to me.
He then added that he feels sorry for former Two and a Half Men star Charlie Sheen and compared his battle with OCD to that of addiction…
“I empathise with somebody like Charlie because addiction is a mental health issue. I’m such a proponent of getting help and having people around you to deal with it.”
