Gulf Oil Spill Movie In The Works
Movie production company Summit Entertainment are set to make a feature length movie about the 2010 Oil Spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
The movie is thought to take set in the hours leading up to the disaster. Summit Entertainment, according to the Hollywood Reporter have secured options on a New York Times article which detailed the lead up.
A spokesperson for Participant Media, partners of Summit Entertainment said…
“This is a perfect fit for us – a suspenseful and inspiring real-life account of everyday people whose values are tested in the face of an impending environmental disaster.”
28 workers lost their lives when an explosion ripped through the Deepwater Horizon, the ship which ultimately spilled the vast amounts of oil into the sea.
The movie, which is as yet untitled, will be written by Matthew Sand who also wrote the upcoming movie; American By Blood.
No casting decisions have been made yet.
