Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides Review: 3D Is Only Good Thing About This Movie
Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides is proof positive that too many sequels ruin a movie. Pirates of the Caribbean 4 was shot in masterful 3D and will give you lots of bang for your extra 3D buck. Disney spared no expense in this sequel and the action and sets are colorful, well designed, and above average. This sequel seems empty though as Captain Jack Sparrow, played by Johnny Depp, seems to be running out of steam with no new material. We have seen all of his antics in the first 3 of the Pirates series and you will see nothing new here. This movie was made with only one thing in mind: Disney wanted to milk the series for a few more bucks before retiring it. This adventure had to do with finding the fountain of youth. With the exception of one small part in the middle, where you will see lots of 3D effects that try to make this movie interesting and lots more sultry young mermaids, this movie falls flat on its face. Without 3D this movie would have been terrible bore to watch. Actually, it was still boring but the 3D scenes just emphasized the fact that Captain Jack Sparrow is too familiar now to excite me. I applaud Johnny Depp for giving the character of Jack Sparrow to me. I just wish he hadn’t stayed around so long to make him boring. Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides is a lackluster 3D sequel that you will not be sad to miss.
