American Idol Final Results Night 1: Lauren Blows Scotty Away!

The first night of the season finale of American Idol showed us that Lauren can bring it on when she wants to. Each contestant sang 3 songs tonight. First, Scotty and Lauren got to sing their favorite song from American Idol Season 10. Scotty started out with “Gone” and gave his usual blazing performance. Lauren sang Flat on the Floor and it was one of the worst performances of the year for Lauren. She has had problems this week though as she had problems with a strained vocal chord this week. The second round is where the singers had to sing a song picked by “their” idol. Scotty had to sing “Check Yes or No” and did the song justice, while making George Straight, Scotty’s Idol, proud. Lauren got a break from her idol, Carrie Underwood, as her song was “Maybe It Was Memphis ” and it fits Lauren’s voice perfectly. Lauren came back in round two as her voice just flowed through this song. I judge it a tie up to the third round but I think the judges are seeing the first two all for Scotty. Round three is where the contestants sang the single that will be released if they win American Idol Season 10. Scotty came out with “I love You This Big” and it was stunning. Of course the judges had nothing but praise for Scotty, I miss Simon so much this year. Lauren came out with a song dedicated to her mom called “Like My Mother Does” and it blew me away. Lauren’s voice magically came back and she was hitting every note with perfection. Steven Tyler said it best when he told her “America will vote her to be the next American Idol. Now it is time for the viewers to decide the fate of Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina on American Idol Season 10.
