Green Lantern Review: One Wild Choppy Ride Down Comic Book Lane
Green Lantern opened today to lots of anticipation by fans and lots of criticism by critics. I thought this movie was well made and it is a good movie for older kids. First, critics have pounced on the choppy script and dialogue but the movie does remind me of the comics I used to read as a kid. The action was great and the scenes kept my 6 year old interested in the whole movie. The film did suffer from trying to put too provide too much background in too little time, but otherwise it was a great “over the top” movie and way better than Thor. Ryan Reynolds did a masterful job of bringing the Green Lantern to life. Some have criticized Reynolds for seeming to over act the role but I thought he made this film his own and kept true to character. Blake Lively didn’t impress me with her performance as Carol Ferris and there could have been a better choice here for leading lady. The villains were great in Green Lantern and I like how Parallax was made into a giant head and cloud and it worked well. The scenes in this movie jumped out at me and were vivid and alive. I had to refresh my memory a bit on the comics to get an accurate view of this movie as it does seem to be geared towards fans of the comic books but the Green Lantern movie was loved by my6 year old son and me alike. Anyone wanting to see a great, vivid, action movie would be pleasantly surprised by the Green Lantern.
