UFC 133 Results: Complete Results Of PPV Fights 8-6-2011
UFC 133 was in Philadelphia, PA tonight and their were 5 main card fights broadcast live on pay per view and on the UFC.com Live Stream. First up was Rory Macdonald and Mike Pyle and as we predicted, it was one of the best fights of the night and one of the quickest. Both fighters started out a little slow but that only lasted a few seconds as Macdonald took charge taking Pyle to the floor. they grapple a little more and end up on the mat with Rory on top. with a little less than 3 minutes into this fight Rory Macdonald land an elbow and and hard right that sends sends Pyle into never never land. It’s a TKO as the ref stops the fight and declares Rory Macdonald the winner.
Second up was Jorge Rivera vs Costa Phillipou and this match should have been called a “clinch fest” instead of a fight. Through all three rounds these two kept going into a clinch and the ref had to keep separating them. It went a whole three boring rounds with no real action at any time. In the end, it was a split decision with the two judges giving it 29-28 to Phillipou and one scoring it 29-28 for Rivera. Phillipou gets the split decision.
Next up was Dennis Hallman vs. Brian Ebersole and we predicted this would be a great fight and it was. We just wish it had lasted longer but it was the funniest fight of the night as Dennis Hallman came out wearing a “speedo”. At the start, Hallman got Ebersole on the mat and the two were grappling. This was short lived as Ebersole quickly got the advantage and started pounding Dennis with elbows and fists. the ref called it at about 4 minutes into the first round after Hallman goes limp.
The fourth fight of the evening was Vitor Belfort vs. Yoshihiro Akiyama and it would continue with the quick endings. Akiyama is coming off three straight losses and need to prove himself here but it didn’t happen. A little before the 2 minute mark in the first round, Belfort clocks Akiyama in the temple and he goes down. Belfort see the opportunity and goes in pounding. The ref stops the fight at 1:52 in the first round as Yoshihiro Akiyama is out like a light. Vitor Belfort wins by TKO.
The main fight tonight was Rashad Evans vs. Tito Ortiz and this was the best the UFC could do since so many fighters bailed on UFC 133 due to injuries. Round one was all Rashad Evens as Ortiz had trouble hooking up but was great as a punching bag for Evans. Hey maybe that can be his new career after the UFC. The second round just brought more punishment to Ortiz by Rashad and it ended when Evans landed a solid knee to Ortiz’s ribs. He was doubled over in pain and the ref stopped the fight giving Rashad Evans the victory over Tito Ortiz.
