Fright Night Review: Just A Funny Vampire Movie
Fright Night is a vampire movie that will make you laugh and scream in a near perfect blend of horror and comedy. This film is a remake of the 1985 movie of the same name but it adds an updated plot, 3D, and is much more funny than the original. Colin Farrell plays the handsome next door neighbor Jerry, who just happens to be a vampire. Charley, played by Anton Yelchin, lives next door with his single mom Jane, played by Toni Collette. Now Charley realizes something is different about his neighbor and nobody will listen. His mom Jane only sees a very handsome man that she “likes”. The movie makes light of certain things like the rules that vampires have to follow. You will laugh a lot watching this film. It is good humor and horror all in one package. Fright Night, like the original, explores the topic of how “adults” don’t pay enough attention to kids suspicions. You get the idea that if everybody had taken Charley a little more seriously in the beginning, a lot of doom and gloom could have been avoided. This movie is 3D but really not worth the extra money as the effects are sub par and not well used. See it in 2D and you will enjoy it more. As far as being a remake, Fright Night does well with keeping to the original and adding a little modernization to the plot. Fright Night is a great movie for a date, or just a group of friends to go out and enjoy.
