Star Wars Saga Blu-Ray Set

George Lucas has done it again. He has changed our beloved Star Wars and this time he has gone too far it seems from our fans reactions. First, the new complete Star Wars is being released on Blue Ray which is a good thing. The bad news is that one of the most iconic scenes ever in a movie has been “destroyed”. We are talking of when Darth Vader picks up the Emperor and throws him down the reactor shaft to save Luke from certain doom. Lucas has played with Star Wars in every update and some have not been good but this one takes the cake. In the original, Darth Vader just stands there silent as Luke is being destroyed. The silence portrays something his plastic mask could not. What was going through his mind watching his son die? What turmoil was going on behind that mask? Lucas decided we needed to know more so, in this new release, Vader will now scream out “NOOOOOOO!” as he picks up the Emperor and tosses him to his doom.

We sent out emails to our Nerdles readers and the overwhelming response is that this is bad, really bad judging from our responses. One of our readers, Josh Hardin, summed it up best as he stated. “Lucas has changed this by making it seem like one of those old “Godzilla” movies that were originally in Japanese. In these translated versions, we always heard a “HMM” or “HAY” when there was a pause or a nod of a character. It was unnecessary then and it is unnecessary now in Star Wars. Lucas has turned this into a cheap B movie.” While we wouldn’t go as far as Josh and say this changes Star Wars to a “B” rating, it is a very bad change.

Now this Blu-Ray series is great. The clarity that Blu-Ray brings to movies is stunning. All of our respondents said it was a bad change but Star Wars was still the best SCi-Fi series of films ever to be created.
