Eddie Murphy Academy Award Host
Eddie Murphy has been tapped to host the 84th Academy Awards Show, to be held on February 26, 2012, and should make the event an original. In a press release, Brett Ratner and Don Mischer announced that Murphy would add a new level of excitement to the show. Eddie Murphy is a comedic legend who can do stand up like very few people out there. He has a “quick” response and facial gestures that have set him apart from his peers in the “comedy realm”. The biggest question will be if he can tone down the language for TV. Murphy is known for his sometimes “vulgar” and “foul languaged” remarks. Murphy is a Hollywood Veteran that can make you laugh with just a grimace of his face. His portrayal of Sherman Klump in the Nutty Professor was pure genius. He can relate to kids well as “Daddy Daycare” showed us his more serious side and proved that he can do “clean” comedy. Murphy said, “I am enormously honored to join the great list of past Academy Award hosts from Hope and Carson to Crystal, Martin and Goldberg, among others. I’m looking forward to working with Brett and Don on creating a show that is enjoyable for both the fans at home and for the audience at the Kodak Theatre as we all come together to celebrate and recognize the great film contributions and collaborations from the past year.”
The 84th Academy Awards Show should be an event to remember with Eddie Murphy at the helm.
