Lion King 3D: Is It Worth The Price Of Admission?

Lion King 3D Poster
The Lion King is back! No not a sequel, but the original film has been made over into a 3D epic to try to charm fans at the box office once again. Now this is not a review of the film but it is a review of the quality of conversion to 3D. Unless you have been living on a remote island with no TV or Internet for the last 7 years or so, you know what this movie is and already have a firm opinion of it. We love “The Lion King” and in our minds, it is one of the greatest animated stories of all time. With that said, we were a little pretentious about this 3D version as many films converted to 3D are just substandard. Making a 2D movie into a great 3D film is hard but Disney has pulled it off with very good results. Kids that have only experienced this classic on the “small screen” will have their eyes all widened as the 3D landscape expands around them, the birds fly by, and the rain comes out at them. There are no real “jump out at you” moments in the 3D Lion King but just the scenery is worth the price of seeing our favorite movie in all the expanded glory. My four year old son went along with me to see this film and it kept him glued to the screen the whole time. He loved it and that is quite a compliment because he normally gets bored after about 45 minutes in any movie he sees. he actually jumped back when the fight scene between Simba and Scar happened. That’s how realistic the effects are. I would highly recommend the Lion King 3D to everyone, especially if there is one person out there who has never seen it.
