ABC and NBC will battle it out tonight as “Dancing With the Stars” and “The Sing Off” both start out tonight with 2 hour premieres. Now ABC has the upper hand here as DWTS season 13 will start out with a bang. Chaz Bono, son of Sonny and Cher, is this year’s controversial contestant. ABC likes to have someone on the show that will “stir the pot” and Chaz fits the bill because he used to be a woman. This has sparked boycott calls from some fringe groups that has elevated the show to a level of hype that has been missing since Kate Gosselin took to the dance floor. We just hope Chaz has learned a few things from watching his mom over the years. Nothing was worse than having to endure watching the “wooden” Kate try to dance. One thing is sure, he has to be better than her. Now NBC is opening its third season of “The Sing Off” in direct competition with DWTS. The Sing Off is a nice show that has grown. It features a grueling competition between singing groups and is actually a good show. Can NBC take away a big chunk of the Monday night audience from the veteran DWTS? The shows appeal to different overall demographics so it is really not a head to head competition here. With Chaz Bono leading the way into our living rooms, Dancing With The Stars should have a record breaking season opener. Look for DWTS to rule the time slot but NBC will have a respectable night with “The Sing Off”
