X Factor USA
The premiere of the USA version of X Factor brought out some surprise talent tonight highlighted by one “little girl” and one great group. First, we got the introduction of the Judges and they are Paula Abdul, Nicole Scherzinger, and L.A. Reid. Simon Cowell started the show by saying, “Shut up and start singing” and we were off. There were over 20,000 people that wanted a shot at the $5 million dollar recording contract and we got to see a few that are “really dreaming” and some that are definitely worth a look. Rachel Crow was the first person up to sing. This 13 year old blew us and everybody else away with her rendition of “Mercy”. The crowd jumped on its feet cheering loudly as this “tiny” little girl belted the song out with a voice that commanded everybody’s attention. Simon even commented that she was the reason they lowered the eligibility age to 12. I can see why. If Rachel keeps this up, she will have her own bathroom very soon. She stated that she lived in a house with a lot of people and had to share a bathroom so that is her dream: getting a bathroom of her own. Another noteworthy group was “The Anser” that consisted on 3 young men in their 20′s. After totally playing up to Nicole by singing “Happy Birthday” to her they launched into “Rolling in the Deep” by Adele. This was an amazing performance and they get to go on to the next level. We saw the usual lot of terrible acts that made you laugh and cringe. One of the most original performers of the night was Chris Rene. He is a recovering addict that is fresh out of rehab. He tells us his dream is to be a performer and that he supports himself and his son now by being a garbage collector. He sings a song he wrote called “Young Homie” and it is astonishing. Chris has great vocals and talent for writing so he gets a pass to go on to the next level. Simon was even impressed and talked about how he just met a new “star.” Cehck back tomorrow for another review and highlights of the second episode of X Factor USA.
