Sing Off Results 10/10: One Group Goes Home And Deserves It

The Sing Off got off to another great start with a complicated number tonight with all the contestants performing “Rhythm of Love” in near perfect harmony. All the groups stepped up their game tonight but there were some obvious mistakes in the lot. The groups had to perform a “contemporary” number and also a song from the 60′s. First up was the Deltones and they did “Edge of Glory” and “Can’t Hurry Love”. “Edge of Glory” was pretty good but this song doesn’t go well in an “a capella” type format. They had issues with their second song “Can’t Hurry Love” and it sounded off for most of the performance. The judges agreed they had pitch issues. Pentatonix were next with “Your Love is my Drug” and “Piece of my Heart.” The judges loved both of these numbers and I thought they made these songs original and their own.
The third group was The Collective and they sang “Rocketeer” and “Hold On, I’m Coming.” These guys were good and the judges gave them many compliments but they also pointed out that they were too “low key” in the beginning of the second number. They would have been great if they hadn’t lost their rhythm in a few places on the first number. Next was North Shore singing “The Lazy Song” and “Unchained Melody”. These guys nailed both songs and the judges had nothing but compliments for them. I think they are the best group in the competition as they make it look “effortless” even though their routines are complicated.
Dartmouth Aires took the stage next and performed “Animal” and “Pinball Wizard”. They are loved by the judges but I think they lose a lot of points because you cannot hear their lead singer sometimes over the chorus. The group does very intricate numbers and makes it look easy, just like North Shore, but they are not quite as good as them. Sonos was the last group to perform tonight and they did “Viva la Vida” and “I Want You Back”. This was clearly the worst group of the night as they were off key and seemed to wander in parts. They tried to make an echo effect with their voices and it totally didn’t work.
After hearing all the groups, the judges announce that North Shore and Dartmouth Aires are the top two. Pentatonix and the Deltones are right in the middle with Sonos and The Collective rounding out the bottom. It was no shocker to see Sonos eliminated as they were clearly the worst group of the night. This was the last week for the separate groups and we will have the top ten finalists next week going head to head. Check back next week for the results of the Sing Off on NBC.
