Footloose 2011
The Footloose remake promised an updated and energetic take on the 80′s classic and it delivered a nicely entertaining movie that will have you tapping your feet. I usually hate remakes and really didn’t expect this movie to be so enjoyable. Randy Quaid, playing the Reverend Moore, was a standout in this film. Quaid’s character was deeper and less intense than the one played by John Lithgow in the original. Actually, character development is what made this movie shine. Ren, played by Kenny Wormald, and Ariel, played by Julianne Hough, are presented in a more detailed light. You can actually see the chemistry of these two on the screen and it is a credit to both actors and director Craig Brewer. Brewer make this film his own by giving it an edgier feel and it is not so unbelievably nice as the original. The dancing scenes are well updated to the times with a little more “flash” as we get to see a lot more bare mid drifts and shaking booty. I spent most of the time in this film trying to find one big thing I could criticize it for but i ended up being pleasantly surprised with the whole film. It’s just as energetic as the first one and it is updated in a way that will have a new generation tapping their feet and singing along. As far as remakes go, Footloose is on that is definitely worth seeing. I would highly recommend this film to anyone.
