Ghost Protocol MI 4

The fourth Mission Impossible segment called Ghost Protocol successfully puts Tom Cruise back on the radar again and solidifies his action playing skills. Over the top stunts that will have you cringing, if you are afraid of heights, and a beginning that looks like it would fit in as a climactic ending on most films make this movie a perfect Holiday treat for any action fan. Tom Cruise reprises is his role as Ethan hunt with a flair for the dramatic that most 49 year old men would cringe at, or at least be jealous of. This installment of the series brings a fresh perspective with the addition of a new comedic side thanks to the unique abilities of Director Brad Bird. Of course, we have all the usual players in this film with Paul Patton, playing Jane, Jeremy Renner, gets the role of the ultimate warrior Brent, the new star of this film is Simon Pegg, playing the hilariously funny Benji.
The plot is simple. The Government has cut all ties with the team and sets them up to be the bad guys. They are framed for bombing the Kremlin. This puts Ethan, Tom Cruise, back in action to get the proof that will show the team is innocent. Starting out with such a bang, Bird lets the film seem to drag down a little by the third act. the ending is a bit predictable but well worth the wait. I particularly liked that the “romance” area was left pretty much alone here. Ghost Protocol focuses on action and gives you plenty of it. No need to get bogged down in Ethan’s love life, just keep bringing on the stunts.
I usually hate sequels, and really dread watching a 4th installment of a film series. Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol has managed to make this film interesting and funny. It is a welcome addition to the series. I would highly recommend this film to all action fans.
