Modern Family Recap Live 1/11/12: Of Egg Drops, Wacky Birth Mothers, and Phil’s Presentation Skills
Haley does a "Haley" and takes a photo of her toes before bedtime.
Phil asks Haley and Gloria to help him with an important real estate presentation. He has big things planned like a “huge” surprise giveaway, glitzy props, confetti, and poppers – the works. Of course, Haley and Gloria get bored listening to Phil’s antics, and they go off for a break to go shopping, but not before Phil reveals to them his “huge” surprise giveaway – a mousepad! He asks Haley to leave the winning ticket for the prize under a random seat in the audience.
Cameron and Mitchell meet the mother of their next adopted child. They jump through blazing sing-and-dance hoops to impress the somewhat wacky-minded mother of their future child. During their song-and-dance, Cam and Mitch sing for the mother, and she comments that Mitch has a better voice than Cam. Cam gets jealous, and just when the mother decides to choose them as the parents of her unborn child, Cam decides to sing a song that makes her change her mind. She keeps the baby, another Cameron failure, and no baby anymore for the gay couple.
Mother and father, Claire and Jay Pritchett, compete against one another through their kids’ school projects. Luke and Manny are assigned to create an egg parachute. They’re supposed to take an egg, drop it from the first story of any building, and keep it intact. In the end, both kids win, and both parents lose.
Meanwhile, Gloria and Haley are running late for Phil’s presentation. Gloria parks in a tow zone, and they have no way to get back in time. Phil miserably does his own introduction, and it all goes downhill from there. He spends most of his time asking his audience to find the winning ticket for the mousepad under their seat. Turns out Haley has the ticket still in her purse. By the end of it all, people just want to leave and Phil is left a failure. Fortunately, a hug from Gloria’s beautiful self and Phil’s eerie attraction towards her make him a happy man again. Phil, you dog, you.
