The Ellen DeGeneres Show: Taylor Swift “Does NOT Have A Boyfriend” (7/4/12 recap)
Today on Ellen, Taylor Swift once again takes the hot seat next to Ellen. Plus, Foster the People performs. Good stuff coming your way courtesy of the one and only Ellen DeGeneres and of course her biggest fan here at Nerldes!
Ellen’s everyday observations are the best. Today, she talks about Apple’s new iPhone 4S. She admits she doesn’t have much of darn clue about technology, so all these new iPhones are confusing her. In fact, she jokingly mentions that she just discovered she has Reverse in her car. She talks about the 3-hour update for all the iPhones that allows it do an extra 200 things. 200 things? Yeah, Ellen wonders about these 200 hundred new things when all she really uses her iPhone for is texting, taking photos, and occassionally using it as a coaster.
Ellen makes a good point when she mentions why there are thousands of apps that do sooo many things, but when she walks over to the kitchen the phone drops her calls. “Oh well, I guess I’ll play Angry birds instead of talking to this person,” Ellen jokes. She then makes a plea to inventors and scientists to actually make things we need, for example, a pita bread that doesn’t crumble when we put things in it. Totally, right? Also, instead of getting red eye in photos, how about getting rid of the double chin?
Ellen now dances to Dr. Dre’s “Califronia Love.” Good song. Cool dancing. Ellen’s segment, “Oh, Puh-lice”, is up next. Some of the reports:
- 1. From Arlington, at 4:22 AM a man running down a street who fled in car. It was a newspaper delivery man.
- 2. From Connecticut, a report about a suspicious looking coin. It was a quarter. “That’s how bad the economy is that people don’t even recognize coins anymore,” Ellen jokes.
- 3. From Ireland, a woman reports pigs in the yard doing pig things. They were pigs.
Ellen interviews Taylor Swift now backstage who keeps asking her about her love life. Ellen asks, “I am Taylor Swift, and I am dating (blank).” Taylor Swift says no one to which Ellens replies, “I am Taylor Swift and my publicist told me to say (blank).” Taylor replies: “My publicist told me not to answer any personal questions.” Ellen: “Now we’re gettin’ somewhere.” LOL.
Taking her seat in the studio next to Ellen, Taylor talks about her latest 98-city tour. She just sold 55,000 seats in Dallas. Since Ellen “discovered” her, she asks Taylor if she thinks of Ellen often on stage. Yes, of course, she does. Taylor talks about one incident where she was wearing a dress on stage when a wind machine blew her dress way up over her head and totally showed her undies. But she says those weren’t her underwear but shorts. If it happen again, Ellen has a new pair of Ellen undies for her that say “Watch Ellen everyday.”
Taylor is the youngest female ever to win Billboard’s Woman of the Year. And with that, Ellen talks about Taylor’s new fragarence “Wonderstruck” named after a line from one of her songs. Ellen asks, “Does your boyfriend like the way it smells?” Taylor: “I don’t have a boyfriend! I keep telling you that!…I stay at home watching Law & Order by myself…I don’t even have a guy that I’m texting that could be a boyfriend.” Ellen: “That’s pathetic.” Their banter is really funny. On a serious note, Taylor she want to meet her boyfriend in a special, big kind of way. Ellen says that’s a good thing, but “take it from me, you don’t need boys”, she says. Ellen then gives everyone in the audience a bottle of Taylor’s latest scent.
Ellen then takes one of Taylor’s Swift biggest fans on stage. Her name is Mary Kate and she had no clue she’d ever get the chance to have Taylor Swift say her name, much less get a hug from her. But Ellen is awesome and surprises Mary Kate calling her up on stage to get a hug and her name said by Taylor Swift. Ellen to Taylor: “Say her name!!!” To top it all off, Ellen gives her tickets to go to Nashville to go see Taylor Swift at the Country Music Awards.
Academy Award nominee for “Little Miss Sunshine”, Abigail Breslin takes a seat next to Ellen. She’s 15 now, and Ellen asks if she’s driving (which she’s not), but she had to drive in a movie and had everyone on set worriedly on their feet. She apparently didn’t know how to use the brake. She’s a big fan of Real Housewives of New Jersey, so her and a friend made their own reality TV episode based in New York. On to her latest movie, “Jamie Jones”, is about a girl who meets her dad for the first time when she’s 13 years old. The two eventually bond through music.
Foster The People now performs their #1 hit “Pumped Up Kicks.” After the song, Ellen and Taylor are at it again as the due perform a live commercial for Taylor’s new scent, WOnderstruck. “Have you ever been struck by a smell that wasn’t gross? WONDERSTRUCK…How about a perfume that strikes you with wonder when you least expect? (Where out of nowhere someone dressed in a pink bunny sneaks up behind Taylor and seems to tickle and shock her) WONDERSTRUCK.”
