CSI: NY Recap 2/1/13: Killed for Cheese
Reno Martell kills Paul Tortucci, the nephew of a pizza owner for cheese, which Felipe mistook for speed, so Martell also kills Felipe. Martell at first tells Mac and Jo that he killed Felipe in self-defense, and that Felipe killed Paul. The seat of the stolen car was moved way back, which means that Martell was driving. The team finds the van compartment where Paul hid the cheese that he smuggled to Canada.
An animal activist and her boyfriend spray “murderer” on the wall of a beef company at 5 am and witness a man being shot and dumped on the road. The man is Paul Tortucci, who was smuggling cheese to Canada where cheese is more expensive. He secretly added his earnings to his uncle Raphael “Rey” Tortucci’s pizza shop, which was in the red, to turn it black. The team thinks that someone might have thought that he was smuggling 533 pounds of speed. They find a secret compartment in the van. Lab Tech Adam Ross concludes that from the collision scratch marks, the van was lowered by something that weighed over 500 pounds.
Detective Mac “Mack” Taylor and Josephine “Jo” Danville go over to George’s Auto Supply across the street and find cigarette butts by the window that has a good view of the back of Tortucci’s. Reno Martell’s blood is found in the car that caused the collision with Paul’s van. Martell bruised himself when he hot-wired the car. Felipe told him about the speed cheese. When they open up the cheese packs in Martell’s apartment and find out that it’s cheese, Martell loses it and kills Felipe, who the team finds dead along with cheese that they mistake for speed.
Martell at first tells Mac and Jo that he killed Felipe in self-defense, and that Felipe killed Paul. The seat of the stolen car was moved way back, which means that Martell was driving. Felipe had defensive wounds, and Martell didn’t. The neighbors heard shouting in English; Felipe’s English was not so good.
Feely: Rey tells Mac that he felt that he let down Pauly’s parents. He had promised them that he would take care of Pauly. Mac shows Rey a photo of him with Pauly as a young boy and tells him that Pauly could have gone wrong, that Rey did not let anyone down.
