Remake Alert! The Wizard Of Oz!
Posted by: | Comments
Warner Bros are pressing ahead with their Wizard of Oz remake. At this moment in time, two scripts are battling it out to be made. The first; simply titled Oz is thought to target the Twilight crowd while the second script (as of yet untitled) is supposed to have a darker tone with a present day setting.
Of course, no movie announcement would be complete these days without mentioning 3-D and yes, whichever script Warner Bros decide to run with; it will be in 3-D.
Playstation Move Revealed
Posted by: | Comments
At their GDC conference yesterday, Sony unveiled their Wii rip-off; Playstation Move.
Basically, for those of you who don’t know, Playstation Move is Sony’s attempt at stealing all Nintendo’s casual gamers.
Anyway, what is it?
Okay, it looks like the kind of vibrator that Ronald McDonald’s missus would use, boasts improved sensitivity over the Wii-Mote and will cost somewhere in the region of a 100 bucks.
All in all; a pretty uninspired effort from Sony.
For more details check out the videos below which show the official unveiling of Playstation Move and a sample of some of the games.

Ubisoft To Make Ghost Recon Movie

Just like they did with Assassin’s Creed 2, Ubisoft are releasing a short live action film based on the upcoming video game Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Future Soldier.
The 20 minute film has a budget between $8 – $10 million and will be a prequel to Future Soldier.
Francois Alaux and Herve de Crecy, both fresh from picking up the Best Animated Oscar for Logorama, will direct.
Ghost Recon: Future Soldier will be released for the Xbox 360 and PS3 this autumn so expect the live action movie to be released just before the game.

I’m not going to spoil the rest for you…
Is The Office’s John Krasinski Captain America?
Posted by: | Comments
Yesterday FOX 411 reported that The Office star John Krasinski was the favourite to land the Captain America gig but conflicting reports from Heat Vision and Deadline New York claim that Chris Evans, Mike Vogel and Wilson Bethel actually have more of a chance of landing the role than Krasinski.
The casting rumors are certainly beginning to heat up right now and I fully expect Marvel to officially announce the next Captain America within the next week.
I’m crossing my fingers for Krasinski.
New Updated Thor Synopsis!
Posted by: | Comments
Marvel have updated the synopsis for their upcoming Thor movie and it’s kind of sounding okay. I’m not too bothered about the love story but the “darkest forces of Asgard invade Earth” part has got me pretty excited.
Check it out…
Paramount Pictures and Marvel Entertainment present the epic adventure, “Thor,” which spans the Marvel Universe from present day Earth to the realm of Asgard. At the center of the story is the mighty Thor (Chris Hemsworth), a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war.
Thor is cast down to Earth by his father Odin (Anthony Hopkins) and is forced to live among humans. A beautiful, young scientist, Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), has a profound effect on Thor, as she ultimately becomes his first love.
It’s while here on Earth that Thor learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world sends the darkest forces of Asgard to invade Earth.
Batman: Arkham Asylum 2 To Feature Robin?
Posted by: | Comments
IMDB has listed one Vincent Martella as providing the voice for Robin in Rocksteady’s upcoming Batman: Arkham Asylum 2.
The only questions that remain now is whether or not Robin will be a playable character and will there be a co-op mode included?
Hopefully we’ll have our answers pretty soon as the page on IMDB also reveals that the game will be released this year.
We’ll keep you posted.

Final Fantasy XIII isn’t just a game you merely enjoy. You fall in love with it. It’s gorgeous worlds have you stopping to admire them in complete awe, while a graceful soundtrack massages your brain (despite the unfortunate replacement of the original Japanese theme with a song from Leona Lewis).

Like Mass Effect 2, FFXIII seems to be an attempt to answer the question of how to create an RPG for the modern, console-owning masses. Square Enix’s solution is certainly different than BioWare’s, but it’s arguably just as effective in its own way.

Hardcore Final Fantasy fans might be disappointed by the game’s abandonment of franchise traditions like open worlds, town exploration and complex mini-games. The game is still worth buying, but it doesn’t quite feel as complete as its well-loved predecessors.

The most beautiful Final Fantasy game yet is an imperfect but still impressive saga that will touch your heart.

Final Fantasy XIII’s is a superb system overall, easily making up what depth it has lost in speed, tactical cunning and moment-to-moment engagement. Some have bemoaned the apparent retreat from XII’s daring reinvention -- I did myself, at first -- but in its way XIII is just as big a step for the party RPG, albeit a simpler and perhaps more palatable one.

FFXIII takes brave risks with the series’ foundations, but they ultimately create trembling fractures throughout the entire edifice, that robust battle system unable to support the weight of an entire world. Final Fantasy games are always an investment. This time, the returns are questionable.

Fright Night Remake Finds Its Director
Posted by: | Comments
Mr. Woodcock director Craig Gillespie has reportedly signed on to direct the Fright Night remake.
The original Fright Night, released way back in 1985, focused on a teenager who was convinced that Vampires moved in next door.
The remake is being written by Buffy / Mad Men writer Marti Noxon and it is expected to follow the quirky nature of the original.
Dreamworks will produce.

God Of War 3 Review Round-Up Spectacular!
Posted by: | CommentsWell folks, God of War 3 has been reviewed and we’ve taken the liberty of compiling a comprehensive review round-up for you all.
Eurogamer.Net
God of War III is much the same: a technical marvel, but with all the clever stuff turned towards the aim of very basic gratification. There are no branching paths, no complex decisions, and no multiplayer modes, but this particular game is all the better for it, since the results are rich and focused rather than drawn-out and a little ragged. Ultimately, if you want to revel in old-school pleasures decked out in the very brightest new armour, this is about as good as it gets.

Ultimately, what God of War III delivers isn’t a radical overhaul of a successful franchise. Entirely reasonably, it offers a mesmerisingly beautiful closing instalment that refines an established formula in precisely the way it needed to be. What’s more, that pretty face goes a long way in papering over the occasional cracks in an aging series. With a virtually unmatched fidelity in the game’s presentation, every single moment delivers a jolt of breathless wonder.

You can undoubtedly find little details to complain about in God of War 3 (you can’t skip cut-scenes even on a second playthrough, for instance, presumably to mask load times). But given how well everything fits together, how all of the items and weapons feel useful, how the Titan fights are some of the most impressive battles ever seen in games, how the animation and camera angles make the cut-scenes better than you see in most movies, how the combat grapple works incredibly well, and how the visuals almost make it worth playing on their own, I’m not really sure how much that kind of thing matters.

While not a huge leap forward for the franchise, God of War III refines its already-fun gameplay to near-perfection while delivering the clever puzzles, high production values and pure, rage-fueled brutality fans expect. Add a memorable cast of characters and buckets of gore, and Kratos’s last adventure is also his best yet.

The fury, destruction, and murdered gods – it’s all been leading up to this. When I first took up Kratos’ blades back in 2005, I thought I was embarking on a simple quest for vengeance. After leaving a trail of bodies spanning four games and three systems, that quest has finally reached its end. Not even in my wildest dreams could I have imagined such a powerful, cinematic, and breathtaking conclusion to the saga of the Ghost of Sparta.

Valve has revealed some details for their upcoming Portal 2. To make it easier on the eyes, allow me to present the details in bullet-points. Okay, ahem…
- Portal 2 will be set hundreds of years after the first game.
- Portal 2 will include a split-screen co-op mode.
- The environment the game takes place in will be an overgrown version of the Aperature science lab.
- Valve claim that; whereas the first game was more of a “test bed,” Portal 2 will be a “proper” game.
- Portal 2 will hit retail in the summer.
Jim Henson Biopic Moving Forward

According to Vulture, Disney and the Jim Henson Company are moving forward with their plans to make a movie based on the creator of the Muppets; the late Jim Henson.
According to the aforementioned Vulture, the two companies are looking to bring in commercials director Michael Gracey to direct the movie which is thought to be titled; The Muppet Man.
Also, The Muppet Man won’t be your usual biopic fare; the plan is to mix it up with some fantasy elements which would feature some of Henson’s more iconic Muppet characters.
New Iron Man 2 Trailer Looks Awesome

The new trailer for Iron Man 2 premiered last night and trust me folks, it looks pretty damn sweet.
There is absolutely loads to digest, way too much to go into detail here so I’ll just throw it up now and spend the rest of the day watching it over and over again looking for clues…
Sega and Platinum Games have announced that their in-development third-person shooter Vanquish will hit retail in Q4.
Vanquish sees you take control of a government agent (who suspiciously looks a lot like Master Chief) as he fights his way through shit loads of robotic enemies.
Check out the showcase at the end of this post, it’s pretty cool.
Vanquish will be released on both the Xbox 360 and PS3.

GTA V To Be Revealed Before E3?
Posted by: | Comments
According to some analyst dude named Mike Hickey, Rockstar games will announce the next instalment of Grand Theft Auto before this year’s E3…
“Assuming GTA V is in their fiscal ‘11 period as we have currently modelled, [Take-Two Interactive] should be highly profitable, and likely in excess of current street consensus. With the RAGE engine built, the next GTA release should drop faster and require less development expense. Importantly, the Rockstar team is newly incentivised through profitability versus a unit sales approach.”
He then added that while he expects the announcement of GTA V before E3, he doesn’t think that the game will have any sort of presence at the event.
