Playstation 3 Week In Review – A Video Game Column

Welcome to the new weekly Playstation 3 column here on Nerdles.com courtesy of SuperVideoGamer.com Rather than share with you any of my background, I’m just going to dive in and get started with a round-up of last weeks news for the third bestselling video game console in the world. Before you throw up some comments giving me crap for busting that stat, it is true, somehow Sony have found themselves in third place this generation and however unjust that may seem to both you and me, it is in fact true. Anyway, let’s get straight to last week’s news shall we? Batman Arkham Asylum Release Date Confirmed Warner Bros has announced that the sequel to…

Mass Effect 2 Review For PS3

Better late than never. I finally played the demo and then downloaded the game from the PlayStation Store yesterday and I have been having quite a good time so far with the game. The downside to down loading and not purchasing the disc is you cannot trade in the game when you complete the game, but it sure saves the laser from taking a dump. The upside so far has been good game play and lots of enemies to kill. I also like the regenerating health system which is new to the series. Xbox and PC got this game over a year ago, and Sony released it on the 18th of January. Overall improvements in…

Inferior Video Games Should Be Priced Accordingly

All new releases cost the same $59.99 in the U.S. for games on platforms like  PS3, Xbox and PC. It is a rare occasion that games sell at a reduced rate at release. Because there is a significant difference in game quality, content and resolution, games should be priced accordingly which would pick up the standards of game creators or suffer the consequences of less money. There is no excuse for game manufacturers to be making games with poor resolution when others are putting out games in 1080. Poor art work and design can only be the blame at this point and poor resolution covers up the poorly developed games. We are paying good money…

Dragon Age II Preview

I played the demo last night and found the graphics pretty good. I was a bit worried as this new release is not far behind Origins, but BioWare did a good job with its new release. Origins covered a one year span in time and this new release covers a 10 year span in time. You have the freedom to skip over the boring cut scenes that will not affect overall strategy. As in Origins you can pause and cast spells, you can only cast one. The demo was pretty short so I cannot give you a lot of details as my experience was limited. Overall the experience of the game so far was better…

Discovery Space Shuttle Liftoff Bittersweet

The 39th mission of Discovery launched today, and I believe it to be one of the most significant launches of the shuttle program, as it very well may be the last. I watched the first launch of the space shuttle missions and watched on closed monitor of the Challenger explosion in 1986. I worked for an aerospace company that performed several projects for the shuttle including a IRT (integrated rendezvous target) which helped the shuttle track with their on-board radar system to Ciris 1A, which was a revolving frame that mounted to the cargo hold area of the shuttle and held high powered telescopes to view space from the cargo bay of the shuttle. I was fortunate…
